THE LAST FACE

Vinny DeCarlo does not like people. More accurately, he does not want to see them.

Since he was five years old, looking into a face has given him information nobody should have: how close death is, the damage a person carries, the good they have done, the fear, guilt, cruelty, kindness, and contradictions buried inside them.

But never enough to be useful.

He can know someone is going to die without knowing why.

He can see danger without knowing what to stop.

And he cannot turn it off.

So Vinny learns to avoid faces. Dark glasses become permanent. Crowds disappear. Customers stay outside. Eventually groceries, fuel, parts, paperwork, payments, and broken machines all come to him. Other people handle the phones, the pickups, the deliveries, and the world beyond his gate.

His life gets smaller.

It also gets easier.

Then Vinny lets one person all the way in.

Elena Russo is the closest he ever comes to a normal life. Her face tells him she has years ahead of her.

Until one morning it doesn’t.

Nine days.

Vinny warns her. Doctors test everything they can think of. Nothing is wrong.

Nine days later, Elena is dead.

After that, Vinny stops merely avoiding people. He builds a life designed not to need them. Machines arrive without owners. Problems arrive on paper. A person becomes a telephone number, a payment, a pickup, a work order outside the gate.

And somewhere along the way, Vinny begins forgetting that every machine belongs to somebody.

That is when the real danger begins.

Because some warnings save lives.

Some do nothing.

And eventually Vinny discovers he can look at a man who is minutes from death, choose not to warn him, and feel almost nothing afterward.

There is only one face Vinny has never been able to read.

His own.

For more than seventy years, that has been the one mercy his strange ability gives him.

Then Vinny dies.

And instead of ending, the thing he has spent his life running from opens all the way.

For the first time there is no gate. No dark glasses. No work order. No machine between Vinny and another human being. No way to reduce a person to a problem, a warning, or something waiting outside.

And no way to look away.

Only then does Vinny begin to understand what the faces had actually been showing him.

The Last Face is a dark supernatural thriller about isolation, death, responsibility, friendship, and the pieces of ourselves that remain in the world after we are gone.

Vinny spent his life keeping people out.
Death is where they finally get in.

Vinny da Guinea

Old Money: Cold Blood, Greenwich

A fictionalized true-crime thriller — coming soon

Greenwich looked perfect from the outside.

Vinny grew up close enough to the mansions to see what money protected—and close enough to murder, family secrets, violence, and old names to understand what it could bury.

Vinny da Guinea moves through the childhood, crimes, people, and memories that formed him. Some stories are funny. Some are ugly. Some do not make sense until the final pieces fall into place.

This is Greenwich without the postcards.

Old money. Cold blood. And the things families refuse to say out loud.
